Here is a great idiom for you!  When teaching this idiom emphasis “put in” to add meaning.  
 
The idiom "put in my two cents" means to express an opinion, especially when it's not requested or wanted. For example, "If the changes are going to affect me, then I want to put my two cents in".
 
The phrase is often used to preface a tentative opinion, and the speaker may deprecate their own opinion to show humility and politeness. For example, "If I may put my two cents in, that hat doesn't do you any favors" is a polite way of saying "that hat is ugly". The phrase can also be used to preface opinions that aren't likely to be controversial, such as "My two cents is that you should sell your stock now"
