FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Describing and Defining In Speech Therapy ~ Sample Edition”

Defining using the ABC approach helps older language therapy students to form paragraph style definitions that they can feel proud of while expanding their vocabulary skills.

The ABC approach combines an easy to remember acronym, color coding, graphic organizers, and scaffolding to produce a complete definition.

►A is for Appearance ( size, shape, color)

►B is for Basics ( category, function, location)

►C is for Composition ( materials, parts)

The themed approach enhances carryover and reinforces timely, seasonal vocabulary. Color and B/w options are included. There is also a page of cut and paste terms for those students who may have difficulty writing in smaller spaces or have weak spelling skills.
