FREE Coding Lesson for Scratch Jr.
by LisaTeachR's Classroom
Pre-K-2
Coding with the littles is so much fun! Have fun with this fun, digital resource for Scratch Jr. Scratch Jr. is a wonderful programming language that lets kids ages 5-7 create stories and games. Kids use blocks to create the code. Your littles will love it.
I start it with the ISTE standards and then an inclusion activity. Then I introduce the new blocks we will be using that day. I have a slide that shows the task for the day. The last slide is always "Let's Play." This is a digital lesson that will be copied to your Google drive. Feel free to change out the text and your bitmoji. Lessons are widescreen 16:9 for best viewing.
This lesson is for the basics. They will learn about movement blocks!!
Blocks kids will use are:
- movement
- trigger: green flag
What I love about this lesson is the feeling of ownership kids have when creating their own sprites to create their names..
**Scratch Jr. is for ipads. This a lesson for the basics. It's a good place to start.
