Kindergarten - 1st Grade
This is a series of drawing activities to help beginning readers with reader responses. The activities are as follows:
- Draw the plot and then retell the story to a friend
- Draw the good and the bad characters and explain your drawing to a friend
- Draw two characters who are similar and explain to a friend why they are alike
- Draw the setting of the story and explain to a friend who is in the setting and what the character is doing there
- Find the names of the author and illustrator of a book and copy them. Draw what you would do if you were an author or illustrator.
- Explain to a friend what you like in the story and what you don't like
Also included are a teacher guide for using these organizers and a list of Common Core standards addressed through these activities.
