Teacher Talk's Featured Author - Charlene Tess!

I started teaching just a few months shy of my twentieth birthday in El Paso, Texas. I have been teaching in some shape or fashion ever since. Even now, after all these years, I am homeschooling my youngest grandson.

My wonderful husband Jerry and I live near our two daughters and three grandsons, and we spend many enjoyable hours with them. We recently moved from Texas to Colorado to be closer to them, and although I miss El Paso, and I am still adjusting to the cold weather, we love it here. Jerry is originally from Green Bay, so all these white flakes falling from the sky are nothing new to him.

I taught English and creative writing to high school students and adults in public schools in Texas for over three decades. At one point in my long career, I was honored to be the Secondary Teacher of the Year for Ysleta Independent School District, and one of the five finalists for Region XIX Texas Teacher of the Year.

Grammar is my specialty, and I have spent years writing workbooks and resources that make learning grammar easy and fun for students to learn and easy for teachers to use. Teachers tell me that their students enjoy using my Simple Steps to Sentence Sense books and that they are successful. You can read their testimonials on my website. www.booksbycharlenetess.com

In the past few years, I have divided my time between writing resources for TeachersPayTeachers.com and writing fiction and teaching fiction writing to adults. I am the author of fourteen novels, four grammar eBooks, and two other nonfiction books. I co-write romantic suspense novels with my sister under the pen name Tess Thompson. You can find all of my novels in the Kindle Store on Amazon.com.

Charlene Tess is the name of my Teachers Pay Teachers store. I have been selling ELA resources with an emphasis on grammar and writing on TpT since 2006.

My favorite free product is Step One from my Simple Steps to Sentence program. When learning sentence structure, the key is to follow the eight simple steps in order. The place to begin is to find and eliminate prepositional phrases, which will make the sentence shorter and thus easier to analyze. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Prepositional-Phrases-Grammar-Worksheets-from-Simple-Steps-to-Sentence-Sense-673345

The best-selling product in my TpT Store is my grammar eBook Simple Steps to Sentence Sense for High School. Teachers have been using it since 1996, and it is my best seller to this day. This powerful eBook comes complete with lessons written directly to the student, projection masters for easy instruction, group and individual practice pages, reviews, and tests. I have provided everything the teacher needs. The teacher doesn't need to have a background in English grammar to be successful when using this eBook. Even teachers who have never taught grammar will find this program easy to use and stress-free. And even better, the students will love this program and find it easy to learn. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Simple-Steps-to-Sentence-Sense-High-School-Grammar-Worksheets-eBook-6816

I would consider all of my Simple Steps to Sentence Sense resources as my favorites in my TpT store. They represent years of work and practice, and I know how much students can learn from them. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Simple-Steps-to-Sentence-Sense-Grammar-eBooks-Bundle-2000938

I especially enjoy networking with all of the amazing teachers who are members of The Best of Teacher Entrepreneurs Marketing Cooperative. They are experts in their fields and provide quality educational resources.
