FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - “Bat Bat: A Rhyming Activity”

by Richi Reynolds
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

This little printable is part of my larger Bats unit. It can be used with your bat unit to help students learn to listen for rhyming words. The old rhyme "Bat, Bat, come under my hat. I'll give you a slice of bacon. And when I bake, I'll give you a cake, if I am not mistaken", has the words bake and cake removed. The students choose two different rhyming words to replace them on the bat's wings to make a new rhyme. For instance, a student might choose sing and ring and the rhyme becomes And when I sing, I'll give you a ring. Children love listening to the silly rhymes their classmates create. Have lots of batty fun! If you enjoyed this activity, check out the entire Bats unit for more Bat Fun! Richi Reynolds 2012
