Why is Word Work Important?
For students to become fully literate,
they need specific knowledge about individual words. They also need hands-on experience
comparing and contrasting words by sound, pattern, and meaning so that they can
easily recognize patterns of words within text.
These word sorts provide students with
hands-on purposeful and engaging learning opportunities. Differentiated instruction is also easy to
implement with these word sorts because you can choose different sorts for students
based on what they need to work on
Use these sorts during your word work
time, for literacy centers, early finishers, interventions, or send home for
practice!
