4th through 6th Grade Reading and Writing Warm-Ups for Spring Common Core Aligned

Each of these Daily Warm-Up passages is Common Core State Standards Aligned for the fourth and fifth grades – but work great for warm-up and review through the 8th grade. The topics are non-fiction and are April and Spring themed. They are intended to foster higher order thinking skills and writing across the curriculum. They are science and social studies themed and ask though provoking questions to help students become independent thinkers and to develop their brain muscles. They are not multiple-choice.

The difference between these Daily Warm-Ups and most others is that the Warm-Ups herein help to promote higher order thinking skills. Students read the passages, think about what they read and then write constructed response answers to prompts rather than merely checking a, b, c, or d on multiple choice questions.
