FREE LANGUAGE ARTS LESSON - "Cubing: A Powerful Prewriting Strategy"

Cubing is a prewriting strategy that requires examining a subject from the following six different perspectives (as if each were one side of a cube):

1. Describing
2. Comparing and contrasting
3. Associating
4. Analyzing
5. Applying
6. Arguing for or against

The lesson suggests two different activities for practicing cubing. In the first one, students examine an actual physical object and in the second they write about an idea or concept.
