FREE SCIENCE LESSON - “Let’s Build: A Plant Cell”

by A House Called Home
4th - 8th Grade

This plant cell activity will help your students identify the 10 main organelles that make up a plant cell. They identify the organelle by sight, by name, and by function.

The organelles included are:
*cell wall
*cell membrane
*cytoplasm
*nucleus
*vacuole
*chloroplasts
*ribosome
*mitochondria
*endoplasmic reticulum

Teacher Appreciation Sale - Last Day to Save Up to 28% on TpT Products!

Today is the last day of the Teacher Appreciation Sale at www.TeachersPayTeachers.com.  Use the promo code TAD13 and you will receive 10% off of all TpT products.

All of my products are also on sale for 20% off. You may want to buy my bset-selling Test Prep Tournaments For Any Grade and Any Subject.

Revised version now has 12 test prep tournaments. Students will have fun reviewing for your state's standardized tests, district tests, and classroom tests. The 72 pages include football, baseball, and tic-tac-toe game boards & specific directions for 12 tournaments.

The tournaments may be used for any grade and any subject, but you need to supply the questions you want your students to study. Go to the Internet to access your state's released questions of past standardized tests. Use questions from test prep booklets or your classroom textbooks. Write your own questions to review the skills you want your students to learn.

Students may review spelling words, vocabulary definitions, and important events in social studies in whole class tournaments or at a learning center. Students may work in cooperative groups to solve computation problems or word problems.

These tournaments work! When comparing my students' California Standards Test scores with me and how they had done the year before, one student went from Far Below Basic in second grade to Below Basic to Basic to Proficient with me in third grade and went up three levels. Three of my students went up two levels. Nine of my students went up one level. Three students stayed in their same level from second grade to third grade (one student was Proficient and stayed Proficient & two students were Advanced and stayed Advanced.) The final student in my class last year did not have a second grade test score, but scored Advanced in my class. I receive similar test scores each year.

Teacher Appreciation Sale on May 7-8

Teachers Pay Teachers is throwing a huge Teacher Appreciation Sale on May 7th and 8th.  Use the promo code TAD13 and you will receive 10% off of all TpT products.

All of my products will be on sale for 20% off. You may want to add my Accelerated Reader Color-Coded AND Book Level Labels to your wish list.

Use Avery labels to color-code AND display the book level and points on the spines of your Accelerated Reader classroom library books, book sets, and school library books.   Having students see the actual book level on the colored label is better than just seeing colored dots.

I have created book level labels from 0.1 - 24.0 BL and point labels from 0.5 - 179.0 PTS.   Even though some of these labels are currently not in use, I wanted them available just in case you may need it in the future.

MAC and Microsoft Word users are able to edit the book level and point pages so that a label may be created for a particular Accelerated Reader book. I have also grouped the book level labels and point labels in six different ways to help you decide if it is better to print the page which has 6 sets of 3.0 - 3.9 BL labels or print the page which has 15 sets of 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, & 3.3 BL labels or print the page which has 1 copy each of labels 0.1 - 6.0 BL.

Use Avery labels to color-code the book levels. For example, at my school I used red - 1st grade, purple - 2nd grade, yellow - 3rd grade, orange - 4th grade, green - 5th grade, and blue - 6th grade & above.

You may also use other color-coded file labels from a variety of companies. Just be sure that the labels are compatible with the sizes of the Avery labels (2/3" X 3 7/16" for the book level labels and 1" X 2 5/8" for the point labels.)

Print the point labels using neon yellow, magenta, and green labels to differentiate which Accelerated Reader books are from your classroom library, core literature book sets, and the school library. The point labels inform the students how many points they may receive for that particular book, while at the same time, the neon labels are so bright that I can easily see which Accelerated Reader books are from my classroom library and which books belong to the school library.

I have also included color-coded book level headings which you may display on your bookshelves or book bins. MAC Pages and Microsoft Word users may edit the headings.   By using these color-coded Accelerated Reader book levels, students may quickly and easily find their exact book level.

The labels are formatted for only MAC and Microsoft Word users. Please be sure to test the template with plain paper before you print the actual labels.
