Last year, I used something similar (strips of construction paper) to motivate my students to buy-in to the standardized test. These are a lot cuter.
During the test, I just walk around and stamp, or place a sticker, on their slip if I see them using a good testing strategy. Students with ten stickers at the end of testing received a reward.
The kids were really motivated by it,and I really think it made a difference in the quality of their efforts on the test.
Enjoy and happy teaching!
